Conflict of Interest Statement

The California Mathematics Project’s overall policy on conflict of interest is that none of the members of the CMP Advisory Board shall participate in any organization’s proposal or interim report reviews which place them in a conflict of interest between their official duties as Board members and any other interest or obligation to the organization.

In case of a conflict of interest during reviews of interim reports or proposals, the CMP Advisory Board member will become a member of the public (as defined by the Bagley-Keene Open Public Meetings Act) during the discussion of the campus in question and will abstain from voting for or against the proposal. In this case, the member cannot be counted as part of a quorum.

The CMP Advisory Board considers all of the following to be conflicts:

  • The Advisory Board member is employed by the organization being reviewed.
  • The Advisory Board member is actively involved within the last three years in any CMP programs or activities sponsored by key CMP regional site personnel including any of the following:
  • Serving as a member of any local Advisory Board of the CMP regional site or of any programs sponsored by key CMP regional site personnel.
  • Providing services for a fee or honorarium to the CMP regional site or to any programs sponsored by key CMP regional site personnel.
  • The Advisory Board member is a family member or personal friend of one of the key CMP regional site personnel.
  • Additionally, an Advisory Board member may determine on his/her own volition that a conflict of interest exists.
